Mark Fell : The Moment of Impact (2014)

This installation is a multi-channel sound work using layers synthesized on a Serge modular synthesiser at Elektronmusikstudion Stockholm. The piece is part of a series of works “at the border or silence” which explore spatially distributed harmonics at very low volume. The title  “The Moment of Impact” refers to the idea of time standing still at the moment of near death experiences –more specifically to a serious car crash in Huddersfield where a bus collided into Fell’s car. Typically the now point is thought of as an infinitely narrow point between past and future. The piece proposes the idea of a infinitely extended now point.
